With rising fuel costs and environmental issues many people are now looking at heating their homes with a wood burner or a multi fuel stove. A more efficient and cost effective way of heating, a multi fuel stove can burn wood or coal where as a wood burner can be run on wood only  Unlike open fires where most of the heat is sent up the chimney, a multi fuel stove or wood burner will generate heat when the stove body gets hot, this then radiates into the room with no loss of heat up the chimney.

A multi fuel stove can come with or without boilers. Stoves with boilers are capable of running several radiators.

Multi Fuel Stoves
What’s the difference between a wood burner and a multi fuel stove?

Multi Fuel Stoves
A multi fuel stove can burn wood, coal, peat and briquettes.   Unlike wood burners, multi fuel stoves burn better
on a bed of ash so they  have a grate which can usually be riddled from outside and an ash pan.

Wood Burners
A wood burner can only burn wood and unlike a multi fuel stove a wood burner will burn best on a bed of ash so
do not always have a grate or ash pan and will not require as much emptying of ash.
