How to look after your multi fuel stove or wood burner
Regularly check the grate, firebricks and ash pan for holes, cracks or damage.
Check the fire rope seals around the glass and door, replace frayed or missing fire rope.
When not in use - If your stove is not going to be used for a period of time it is important to leave a vent or a door open, condensation can build up within the stove if it is not vented.
Expand the castings - It is advisable when first firing up your stove to expand the castings. This can be done by gradually heating up the stove by lighting a small fire in the stove for the first few days. This procedure should also be carried out if the stove has not been fired for a period of time e.g., Over summer.
To work out the required output for your stove use the following method.
Height x Length x Width
14
This will give you the KW output required.
This equation is only a guide, other factors which will affect heat output includes
doors, draughts, staircases and insulation.
When purchasing a multi fuel stove it is important that it is installed correctly, we recommend you use a HETAS fitter to install and commission your stove.
